William Marriott

During my time as a student at the 51²è¹Ý, I was able to gain valuable experience and knowledge that I currently use each day at my job. Every member of the faculty within the Anthropology program went above and beyond to make sure we all got the education that we deserved. I cannot thank every person who was involved with my education enough.

In particular, the opportunities available to students at the USA Center for Archaeological Studies springboarded me into the CRM career that I have today, providing hands-on opportunities both in the lab and field settings, from shovel testing and Phase II exploration to artifact identification. These experiences were instrumental in gaining the skills needed for my current position.

I now work for the Center for Archaeological Studies as an archaeologist. I primarily work in the De Soto National Forest in Mississippi performing Phase I shovel testing but oftentimes have the opportunity to branch out and try different facets of cultural resource management. I am still learning new and exciting things about our field through the connections that I have made at 51²è¹Ý, including various archaeological specialists ranging from public outreach coordinators to geoarchaeologists.
