Nicole Lemon (Class of 2024)

T. Nicole Lemon

I graduated from USA in 2024 with a BA in Anthropology ready to start my medical program at the USA Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine. My degree in Anthropology prepared me by helping me understand the importance of cultural relativism and the beauty of learning about cultures other than my own. I truly believe that by better understanding a patient’s culture and perspectives on the healthcare system, I can provide them with better care that is tailored to their needs and meets them where they are at. A few of my favorite experiences within the program were volunteering and organizing events with the Student Anthropological Society, interning at the Mobile Medical Museum, and even being able to create an exhibit with my class regarding findings from the I-10 Mobile River Bridge Archaeology Project. While in the Anthropology program, I developed skills related to research, cultural sensitivity, leadership, and communication that helped prepare me for medical school and a future career as a physician. I am truly grateful to now be able to utilize these skills on a daily basis within the classroom and with patients.
